The E PLURIBUS UNUM–GRAICE Project (Gender, Religion, Race, Identity, Culture, Ethnicity in the Military Family) is an ongoing multimedia project that explores the question, “How does one unite in service and still keep one’s personhood?” MAMF is using an anonymous community survey that identifies respondents by gender, religion, race, identity, ethnicity, and culture allowing them to share their stories in context. MAMF received a grant from the McCune Foundation to publish a book based on these stories and insights, and has an ongoing podcast series with discussions about identity in military and veteran families. Did you know that the Museum of the American Military Family has created an original play about the experiences of LGBTQ military/military families?
On June 27 at 2 pm PDT the play SHOUT! will be performed virtually. Instead of selling tickets, the museum is inviting people to make a donation of $5.00-10.00 towards the performance. Anyone who donates will receive a link to this special one-time event. Here is the link: https://fundly.com/shout
MAMF will observe the 75th anniversary of the opening of Defense Department Dependents Schools in Europe and the Far East by releasing a commemorative anthology, “SCHOOLING WITH UNCLE SAM.” This is a chance for you to preserve a unique history and to be a part of it. If you have an interesting story or two to share, please submit it for the anthology. Your piece should be first-person and can be as long or short as you choose. You can submit up to three different pieces for the book. Authors included in the anthology will receive a free copy of the book in lieu of payment.
We especially need stories about the following topics: historic events impacting the school, support and administrative staff, teacher’s unions, dorm life, special academic/cultural exchanges, saying goodbye, death of friend or teachers, graduation and going back to visit the school after graduation.
Stories should be sent to email@example.com
